Open guitar chords or 1st position chords, are finger forms, used to produce music.

They are usually the first chords any student learns in beginning lessons.

They are easy to remember, they take time to master, and can be played without too much hand movement.

From the start we will only deal with the letter named chords from A thru G.

Our aim here is to produce barre chords up and down the key board.

The following are the forms we use to make the basic chords. If you don't see them now, they will be here soon, we are still under construction.

The forms that we will be most concerned with are the E, and the A. These forms will be used to construct root six and root five chords.

Remember root six chords have their bass note on the sixed string (E string open), and root five chords have their bass notes on the fifth string (A string open).

That's very important later you will see how this allows you to, memorize chords readily and navigate up and down the fretboard with purpose.
