Guitar pitchpipe, Equivalent String, And Electronic Tuning

There are a number of ways to tune a guitar. You can use a pitchpipe, equivalent string, or electronic.

To use the Pitchpipe, you blow into a pipe of a certain string, to get the tone of that corresponding string. Pluck the string and blow the pipe simultaeneously, adjust the string upmor down until the tones are both the same.

Repeat this for each string, until the entire process is complete.

For equivalent string tuning, tune the High E (bottom) string to the E tone. Then place your finger at the 5th fret of the 2nd string. Pluck the second string, then the first. They should both sound the same. If not adjust the 2nd string as needed.

Then place your finger at the 4th fret of the 3rd string. Pluck the 3rd string, then the 2nd. They should both sound the same. If not adjust the 3rd string as needed.

Electronic tuners are also available. They come in stand-alone units or maybe incorporated in amplifiers.

What ever electronic tuner you use, they can use either lights or needles to show correct tone.

Check with your manufactures operation manual if you use an electronic tuner.
