Guitar Root 5 chords allow for the formation of chords along the fretboard.
They are built from chord form of the open A. Open A has the 2nd,3rd, and 4th strings barred at the 3rd fret.
Or you can finger the three strings with with the middle finger the ring finger and the pinky.
What ever suits your taste. The first and 5th strings a played in the open position, and the 6th string is not played (muted).
Try playing this chord find a piece of music and use it with other chords.
It maybe hard at first but in time and some effort it will become easier to finger.
And if you are just starting out be prepare to build the calluses at the tips of your fretboard fingers.
It will also be a little painful, but don't worry, if you keep it up it will get better after awhile and you won't even notice it.
Now let's try to form this chord in either the barred 2nd,3rd,4th strings, or with the three individual fingers pictured below.
Don't worry your doing nicely just keep on practicing the fingering, and combining it with other chords.
The next step is the form the chord further up and down the neck of the fretboard. First try it at the 5th fret.
And what chord have you formed?......... good a D, D-major to be exact.
As you now either place your fingers to make this formor even slide your hand up and down the neck, use the bass notes to define the chord name.
That is to say for example E- major at the 7th fret, C-major at the 8th fret.
Now as you play to use the keep in mind the name of the chord of the 5th string.
Now practice up and down thee neck give it some time, for we will combined this chord form with others.
You may get discouraged at first, but measure your progress I always say, turn the guiar over and play it with the other hand.
Then it's apparent how much progress you have made. So Keep at it things only get better.
