Guitar Basics

Quickly learn Guitar chords and patterns. From the start, to quickly pick up on the basics and certain aspects of the instrument need to be discussed. You'll need a basic understanding of the fretboard, scales, and

barre chords.

You'll also need to know how to tune your instrument, to get the proper tones. See Tuning .

This is a very versatile instrument, producing special sound not duplicated by any other instrument. It produces single notes as well as multiple note played, simultaneously. The variation in sounds is almost matched by the different style of the instrument. The different types fall into general categories acoustic, or electric, and bass instruments.

Mastery of the fretboard is the main goal of this for you. Knowing first position fingering, allow us to produce Barre chords all along the neck of the instrument.

A good knowledge of tuning. will ensure that the proper tones are being produced and we are in harmony with other instruments.

It's all about the basics you first have to learn what notes are used in music. Then figure out how those notes relate as far as the intervals are concerned. Then learn scales and combination of notes. From there then you have to put it all together and practice. Practice for the level you wish to attain: If you just want a guitar to look cool in your room, just leave it there to collect dust. If you want to play for the family and at reunions and get togethers, do an hour a day. If you want to go to the coffee house and jam maybe 2-3 hours a day. If you want to be a professional you'll have to practice upwards of maybe 12 hours a day, or maybe more. But always come to KCG.com and learn one page lesson each day.
