Chord Progressions

Chord progressions are a linear arrangement of note combinations.

They are the elements of the song that produce harmony , accent the melody and give a sense of predictability to music.

Predicting note arrangement, how chord types are arranged, just as a scale of single notes show what direction the music is headed, so to can chords .

Chords in music can be predictable and are tied together by how they are constructed.

In the construction of chords we find they use certain notes of the major scales, bass note usually gives the chord it'd name, Notes above that not determine the type of chord .

In music chords are annotated by the use of roman numerals.

We will use Roman Numerals such as I IV II V I, to illustrate simple strings of chords.

We'll discuss the more common strings of chords , and the Turn-A-Round, in later lessons. See secret patterns .
