Scales,

Scales are groups of tones or notes played in sequence, and are of a particular set of intervals between them.

These intervals are usually either whole-tone, or half-tone.

Different combinations of these whole-tone and half-tone intervals can produce an infinite number of note sequences.

Some scales used in music are; guitar-major-scale, pentatonic-scale, chromatic-scale , blues-scale : are some useful scales.

We'll also look into Modes . Modes are particular types of note sequences, that are produced essentially from each note of a scale.

This will be explained in further discussion, and we'll also look into how Modes are named.

Chords to, can be played in a particular set of intervals between them, just as single notes can be. See chord chemistry .

Learning these intervals and the sequences will be a great aid in memorizing chord patterns, and the ability to see these patterns on the fretboard of the guitar. See

.

The major-chord-scale is an easy way of learning these patterns which are universally known and used. You have to learn this scale.

So a good knowledge of intervals will be invaluable in mastering the knowledege of note sequences and chord sequences.
